Train services on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route resumed after remaining suspended for around three hours following a fire in the engine of a running train in Mymensingh’s Trishal upazila on Monday afternoon.

According to railway officials, the suspension was lifted around 7:30 PM after the Mohanganj Express was brought to Mymensingh station using a replacement engine.

Mymensingh Railway Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Md Akhtar Hossain confirmed the resumption of services.

He said an alternative engine was brought from Mymensingh Railway Junction and attached to the Mohanganj Express before normal operations resumed.

Earlier at 4:30 PM, the incident occurred near Aulianagar area when the Dhaka-bound Mohanganj Express was en route to Mohanganj.

Following the incident, railway authorities suspended train movement on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route as a precautionary measure.

No casualties were reported in the incident, officials added.
