9 more die of measles 

Nine more children have died from measles and measles-like symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours, health authorities said on Tuesday.

Among them, three children died after being confirmed with measles, while six others died with symptoms consistent with the disease, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in its regular measles situation report.

The report said the deaths occurred between 800am on May 11 and 800am on May 12.

During the same period, the DGHS recorded 1,105 new cases of children showing measles symptoms nationwide. Since March 15, the total number of suspected measles cases has risen to 51,567.

In the last 24 hours, 87 new confirmed measles cases were identified. Since March 15, a total of 7,024 children have been diagnosed with measles in the country. Since March 15, some 36,881 children with measles symptoms have been admitted to hospitals. Of them, 32,877 children have recovered and returned home.
