The High Court (HC) on Thursday ordered the authorities concerned to form a three-member investigation committee to identify those responsible for negligence in the incident of giving two doses of vaccine to a child in Bhuiyanpur of Tangail district instead of the regular vaccination.

The HC bench also asked the investigation committee to submit its report within 30 days.

At the same time, the court has ordered to ensure proper treatment of the child immediately.

The High Court bench comprising Justice Ahmed Sohel and Justice Fatema Anwar issued the order along with the rule after initial hearing of a writ petition filed in this regard.

The HC bench also issued a rule asking the authorities concerned to explain why the family of the child should not be ordered to pay Tk 50 lakh in compensation for the diagnosis of health complications due to the wrong vaccination and for proper treatment.

Secretary of the Health Services Division of the Ministry of Health, the Director General of the Health Services Directorate, and the Civil Surgeon of Tangail, among others have been made respondents to reply to the rule within four weeks.

Earlier, a report titled 'One-month-old child was given rabies vaccine forgotten-immediately dull' was published in the online version of a media outlet on Wednesday.

The writ was filed on behalf of the human rights organization Law and Life Foundation Trust, along with the report.

Lawyer Mohammad Humayon Kabir appeared for the petitioner while Deputy Attorney General Mahfuz Bin Yusuf represented the state.
