Train movement on the Dhaka-Chattogram route suspended on Sunday after Sylhet-bound 'Paharika Express' hit a sand-laden truck in Chattogram's Mirrsarai.
However, it was possible to avoid a major disaster due to the prompt application of emergency brakes by the train guards and railway workers.
Farhan Mahmud, the divisional transport officer for the Bangladesh Railway East Zone, said, ""There was no damage to the train or injuries to its passengers, but the truck overturned and the line was suspended."
