Two employees of the Wage Earners' Welfare Board (WEWB) and one employee of the Probashi Kallyan Bank (PKB) have been temporarily suspended over allegations of taking bribes in exchange for facilitating financial assistance and loan services for expatriate workers and their families.

The suspended employees are Wage Earners' Welfare Board's Md. Shafi Uddin, a security guard and Palash Chandra Roy, an office assistant; and Shamim, a peon at Probashi Kallyan Bank.

Through separate official notices issued on Saturday they were suspended following allegations of corruption involving services meant for migrant workers and their beneficiaries.

According to the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, the two Wage Earners' Board employees allegedly accepted cash from the family of deceased migrant worker Md. Kaiyum in exchange for processing financial assistance due to his death in Saudi Arabia. Kaiyum hailed from Patlashi village in Gafargaon, Mymensingh.

In a separate allegation, Probashi Kallyan Bank employee Shamim is accused of taking money from a victim under the pretext of arranging a loan.
