A legal notice has been served on National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Organiser Nasiruddin Patwari, seeking an explanation over the allegation that he made 'defamatory and derogatory remarks' about Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and his daughter Jaima Rahman.

The legal notice was issued by Advocate AKM Azizul Haque Khan, a lawyer at the Mymensingh Judge Court and public prosecutor of the Anti-Corruption Commission.

According to the notice, Patwari recently made "objectionable, insulting and defamatory" comments about the prime minister and his daughter, which it claims have hurt the sentiment of millions of people.

In a Facebook post, Advocate Azizul Haque Khan said: Patwari has been asked to submit a written explanation within 15 days, stating why defamation proceedings should not be initiated against him.

The notice warns that the legal action will be taken before the competent court if no satisfactory response is received within the stipulated time.

The correspondence address provided is Room No. 85, Jubed Ali Building, Mymensingh District Bar Association, Judge Court, Mymensingh.
