Rail communication between Sylhet and the rest of the country remained suspended after a fuel-carrying wagon derailed inside Lawachhara forest in Moulvibazar district on Friday afternoon.

The incident took place around 3:30 PM in the Lawachhara National Park area between Bhanugach and Sreemangal railway stations in Kamalganj upazila.

According to railway sources, an empty bogie of an oil tanker wagon travelling from Sylhet to Akhaura went off the track inside the forest area.

Railway authorities said a hydraulic tool van was being brought to the spot to rescue the derailed wagon and restore train movement on the route.

Shamshernagar Station Master Rajat Kumar Roy confirmed the incident.

However, no casualty was reported immediately after the derailment.
