Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain has said that the investigation report into the deaths of six children at Ad-din Medical College Hospital will be submitted within the next three days.
Speaking to journalists on Monday, the Health Minister said the incident was extremely tragic.
Both the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) are conducting separate investigations to determine the actual cause of the deaths.
Sakhawat Hossain stated that the government is handling the issue with the utmost seriousness.
The minister personally visited the hospital, and the Director General of the DGHS also inspected the site. In addition to the investigation committee formed by the ministry, the DGHS will conduct a separate inquiry. The investigation will be made more comprehensive and effective by considering various aspects, including statements from the mothers of the deceased children.
"The investigation report had initially been scheduled for submission within three days. However, additional information needs to be collected to ensure that the report is more evidence-based and practical. The report is expected to be received by June 3, after which detailed findings will be made public.''
