Habibur equals fastest List A 50 record in DPL Blitz

Legends of Rupganj batter Habibur Rahman equaled the record for the fastest half-century in Bangladesh's List A cricket after reaching his fifty in just 15 balls against Mohammedan Sporting Club in a Dhaka Premier League (DPL) match at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadiumon Tuesday.

Habibur matched the record set by Parvez Hossain last season when the Abahani Limited opener scored a 15-ball fifty against Shinepukur Cricket Club. Before that, Farhad Reza held the record with an 18-ball half-century for Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club in 2019.

The explosive opener launched a fierce assault on Mohammedan's bowling attack right from the words go. Bangladesh pace sensation Nahid Rana, making his first DPL appearance of the season, went through a difficult introduction as Habibur smashed 26 runs off one over.

After striking the first delivery for four, Habibur followed with a six over cover before hitting two more sixes and another boundary in a devastating over that left the fast bowler under pressure.

He also came down heavily on senior national team pacer Taskin Ahmed, smashing him two sixes and two fours in one of his overs, maintaining an extraordinary scoring rate throughout his innings.    �"BSS
