The government has decided to organize roadshows to attract local and foreign investment for the revival of closed and loss-making state-owned factories as part of efforts to boost industrial productivity and economic growth.

The decision was taken at a meeting on the reopening and management of factories under the Ministry of Industries, chaired by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at his Cabinet Division office in the Secretariat on Thursday.

Prime Minister's Deputy Press Secretary Mostafa Zulfiquar Hasan said the authorities concerned have been instructed to complete all necessary preparations for the roadshows within June.

During the meeting, senior officials from various agencies under the Ministry of Industries presented reports outlining the current status, challenges, prospects and potential measures related to closed and unprofitable factories.

The Prime Minister directed relevant authorities to identify effective ways to swiftly reopen shuttered factories and transform loss-making enterprises into profitable ventures.

He also stressed the importance of attracting both domestic and foreign investment to support the revival process and ensure long-term sustainability.

Officials informed the meeting that recommendations from an expert committee are being considered to facilitate the reopening of closed factories and improve the performance of underperforming industrial units.
