The Cabinet on Thursday approved the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Incentive Scheme Policy 2026 aimed at encouraging expatriate Bangladeshis and other citizens to bring foreign investment into the country through a range of incentives.

The approval came at the weekly Cabinet meeting held at the Bangladesh Secretariat, chaired by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

Officials said the policy has been formulated to attract greater foreign direct investment by offering incentives to expatriate Bangladeshis as well as local citizens willing to channel overseas capital into productive sectors of the economy.

The Cabinet also cleared the draft Bangladesh Medical University (Amendment) Act, 2026.
