
The Forum for Energy Reporters Bangladesh (FERB), a leading association of journalists covering the country's energy sector, and the Bangladesh-China Apon Media Club have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening information exchange and media cooperation between Bangladesh and China.
The MoU was signed by FERB Chairman Azizur Rahman and Bangladesh-China Apon Media Club General Secretary Olivia Chu on behalf of their respective organisations.
The signing ceremony was held at the Apon Friendship Exchange Centre in the capital.
Speaking at the event, Yu Guangyue Anandi, Director of the Bangla Service at China Media Group (CMG), said energy resources were closely linked to national development and expressed hope that the agreement would contribute to sustainable development and greater information sharing in the energy sector between the two countries.
Following the signing, Rahman said China’s investment and technological support had played an important role in the development of Bangladesh’s energy sector.
Among those attending the event were FERB Executive Director Sirajul Islam Siraj, Vice Chairman Hasan Azad, and directors Sajib Ahmed and Faisal Atik.
Representatives from several Bangladeshi media and journalists’ organisations were also present, including leaders of the National Press Club, the Dhaka Reporters Unity, the Diplomatic Correspondents Association of Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Photojournalist Association, the Bangladesh Cine-Journalists Association, the Technology Media Guild Bangladesh, the Online Editors Alliance, and the Bangladesh Sports Press Association.
The Bangladesh-China Apon Media Club was formally launched in December 2024.
