Bangladesh fast bowler Hasan Mahmud has signed for Kent County Cricket Club to play six matches in the County Championship, the English county side announced on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old right-arm pacer will join Kent for two Championship fixtures this month-against Lancashire County Cricket Club from June 12-15 and against Middlesex County Cricket Club during the 174th Canterbury Cricket Week from June 19-22, before returning for four more matches in September, subject to regulatory approval.

Hasan becomes the first Bangladesh international cricketer to represent Kent and only the second Bangladeshi player to feature in the County Championship after Shakib Al Hasan, who previously played county cricket for Worcestershire and Surrey.

Since making his Test debut against Sri Lanka national cricket team in March 2024, Hasan has claimed 36 wickets in the format. His best Test innings figures remain 5 for 43 against Pakistan in August 2024.

Expressing his excitement over the move, Hasan said the opportunity to play county cricket as a dream come true.

"I am honoured to have the opportunity to play county cricket for a historic club like Kent," he said.

"Playing county cricket is a dream come true, and it's a proud moment not only for me but also for everyone back home in Bangladesh."

Hasan added that he had already spoken with Kent head coach Adam Hollioake and Director of Cricket Simon Cook regarding his role within the squad and was eager to contribute to the team's success.    "BSS
