An 11-party political alliance in Bangladesh has announced a series of protest programmes condemning alleged border killings and “push-in” incidents along the Bangladesh"India frontier.

The announcement was made on Wednesday at a press conference held at the central office of Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh in Maghbazar. The alliance claimed that the current border situation poses a serious concern for national sovereignty and security. The alliance criticised the government, accusing it of failing to take effective diplomatic and administrative measures. As part of their announced programme, the alliance will hold protest rallies in all border districts on June 12.

Separate demonstrations and processions will also take place in Dhaka and Chattogram on June 15. Leaders stated that their movement would continue both inside parliament and on the streets.
