Top criminal among 6 held over Adabor police attack

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested six people in connection with the attack on police officers following a robbery in which an MFS agent was hacked and robbed in the capital's Adabor area.

The arrests, made in Mohammadpur and Mirpur's Pirerbag area, were disclosed during a briefing at the RAB Media Center in Karwan Bazar on Wednesday.

One of those arrested is Farid Ahmed Babu, also known as Excel Babu, whom RAB identified as a “top criminal” in Mohammadpur. The others are Abu Sayeed, Rashed Khondokar, Md. Liton, Md. Towsif, and Md. Tarikul Islam.

During the briefing, RAB-2 Commander Additional DIG Noymul Hasan said that Abu Sayeed identified himself during interrogation as the “second-in-command” of the “Kobjikata Anwar” group. He also claimed that Excel Babu was a mentor of “Kobjikata” Anwar.

According to RAB, they admitted to involvement in robbery and criminal activities.
RAB said a motorcycle and a samurai sword were recovered from those arrested.
