
The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Bangladesh in Dhaka, Dr Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi, paid a courtesy call on Opposition Leader and Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, on Wednesday at 1130am at the Office of the Opposition Leader in the National Parliament Building.
The Iranian Ambassador was accompanied by First Counsellor Esrafil Amiri Gorzaddini, Cultural Counsellor Mahdi Molars, and Media and Public Relations Officer (Interpreter) Mahfuzul Haque.
The meeting was held in a cordial and warm atmosphere. Discussions focused on the long-standing friendly and brotherly relations between Bangladesh and Iran, as well as opportunities to enhance bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, education, cultural exchange, healthcare, and other contemporary issues concerning the Muslim world.
At the outset of the meeting, Ambassador Jahanabadi congratulated Dr. Shafiqur Rahman on his appointment as the Opposition Leader in the 13th National Parliament. He also praised Jamaat-e-Islami for its constructive and intellectual contributions as an ideology-based political party.
