The government is set to introduce an “Online Pension Tracking and Management System” (OPTMS) to make pension services faster, more transparent and citizen-friendly for retired government employees.

State Minister for Public Administration and Food Md Abdul Bari announced the initiative at the opening session of a workshop held at the conference room of the Ministry of Public Administration at the Secretariat on Tuesday.

Under the new system, retired government employees will be able to submit pension applications, upload necessary documents and track the status of their applications online.

Officials said the digital platform will reduce the need for repeated visits to government offices and help ease long-standing delays in pension processing.

The state minister said the introduction of digital pension services would help reduce corruption while ensuring greater transparency and accountability in public service delivery.

Officials said once OPTMS becomes fully operational, government employees will receive SMS notifications 11 months before their retirement leave begins. The entire pension application process will then be completed online, while welfare officers and relevant authorities will process files through the same platform.

They said the system would help ensure that retirees receive their pension benefits within the shortest possible time.

The new initiative is being viewed as a major step towards resolving long-standing complexities in pension services and improving digital governance for government pensioners.
