The British Council Bangladesh has completed a 10-day Training of Trainers (ToT) programme under the Higher Education Acceleration and Transformation (HEAT) Project, marking a key step towards strengthening academic leadership and professional development in the country's higher education sector.
Held in Cox's Bazar from June 21 to July 1, the residential programme brought together 15 senior academics from public and private universities, including current and former vice-chancellors, deans, treasurers, heads of departments and directors of Institutional Quality Assurance Cells (IQACs).
The HEAT Project, implemented by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under the Ministry of Education with support from the World Bank, aims to improve the quality, governance, relevance and global competitiveness of higher education in Bangladesh.
As the project's technical partner, the British Council designed and partially implemented the Senior Faculty Professional Development Programme, developing its curriculum, training resources and capacity-building framework for master and national trainers.
Designed in collaboration with Advance HE (UK) and Bangladeshi higher education experts, the programme focused on strategic governance, quality assurance, curriculum leadership, teaching excellence, research leadership, industry-academia collaboration and institutional transformation through interactive workshops, case studies and collaborative learning.
