England suffered a major setback in their FIFA World Cup Round of 16 clash after defender Jarell Quansah was sent off, forcing the Three Lions to play the final 35 minutes with 10 men.

The incident occurred when Quansah challenged Mexico’s Jesus Gallardo. While the referee initially allowed play to continue, a VAR review prompted an on-field check. Replays showed Quansah’s boot striking Gallardo high, leading the referee to overturn his original decision and issue a straight red card.

The dismissal sparked heated exchanges between players and coaching staff on the touchline, briefly halting play.

Already dealing with injuries and limited options at right-back, England now face an uphill battle as they attempt to see out the remainder of the match with a numerical disadvantage.
