Experts on Thursday urged the government to make Bangladesh's renewable energy policies more gender-sensitive, saying the country's clean energy transition must ensure equal opportunities for women and marginalized communities alongside expanding electricity generation.
The call came at a policy dialogue titled "Review of Energy Policies and Policy Instruments to Ensure Gender Equality and Social Inclusion," organised by the Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF) under its Women's Empowerment and Energy (WEE) project in Dhaka.
Participants reviewed the draft National Renewable Energy Development Strategy (2026"2030) and the Rooftop Solar Operation and Maintenance Guidelines, saying both policy documents require stronger provisions to promote gender equality and social inclusion.
