Rizvi warns of 'conspiracies' against govt

Political Adviser to the Prime Minister and BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Thursday urged all democratic forces to remain vigilant against what he described as conspiracies by defeated elements to undermine the government and the country's democratic progress.

Speaking to journalists at the BNP's central office in Naya Paltan, Rizvi said the government came to power after a long struggle marked by bloodshed, mass movements and immense sacrifice, and is now serving as a guardian of Bangladesh's independence, sovereignty and democracy.

"There are many conspiracies and plots against this government. Defeated forces may attempt to create instability and tarnish its image. That is why we have already warned everyone to remain alert. On behalf of the party chairman, our leaders and activists have been instructed to act like vigilant guardians," he said.
