DUCSU demands action against two teachers over alleged disinformation

Published : Sunday, 19 July, 2026 at 12:00 AM
Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) has demanded immediate action against two university professors, alleging that they have spread disinformation aimed at discrediting the July Revolution.

In a statement issued on Saturday, DUCSU representatives claimed that a coordinated campaign was underway to mock injured activists and the martyrs of the uprising.

The protest specifically named Prof. Dr. Kaberi Gayen of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at the University of Dhaka and Prof. Risala Khan of Jahangirnagar University.

DUCSU representatives alleged that the academics were using the pretext of free speech to distort historical facts and promote what they described as a controversial political narrative.

They also pointed to recent social media attacks targeting Sanjida Ahmed Tonny, a fellow student representative and an injured activist of the July movement, as evidence of what they called a targeted campaign of harassment.
