Three more people died with measles symptoms in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, taking the number of deaths this year to 100 from confirmed measles and 897 from measles-like symptoms.
The combined death toll from confirmed measles and its symptoms now stands at 997, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in its regular health bulletin on Monday.
The bulletin said two people died with measles symptoms in Dhaka division and one in Khulna division between 8am Sunday and 8am Monday.
During the same period, 1,216 patients with measles symptoms were admitted to hospitals across the country. Of them, 468 were admitted in Dhaka division, 30 in Rajshahi, 155 in Sylhet, 249 in Chattogram, 135 in Barishal, 86 in Mymensingh, 79 in Khulna and 14 in Rangpur.
According to DGHS data, a total of 145,270 patients with measles symptoms have been admitted to hospitals across the country so far this year. Of them, 139,831 have recovered and been discharged.
Since March 15, the number of suspected measles cases in the country has reached 165,304, including 19,756 confirmed cases.
