Dengue toll rises to 34 as over 1,000 hospitalized

Another person has died of Dengue fever which made the total death toll to 34 this year.

473 new patients have been admitted to different hospitals across the country. As a result, total number of patients currently undergoing treatment has reached 1011. Highest number of 309 patients is receiving treatment in Dhaka divison.

The Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information in a release on Sunday (July 19).

According to the release, the newly deceased patient is a woman, aged between 41 and 45 years.

So far, 10,485 patients have been hospitalized with dengue. Among them, 9,440 patients have been discharged.

An analysis of the deceased shows that out of the total 34 deaths, 19 were women (55.9 per cent) and 15 were men (44.1 per cent).

In the Dhaka division, 11 patients died in hospitals under Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), six under Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), and one outside the city corporations. Meanwhile, five died in Mymensingh, four each in Chattogram and Khulna, two in Barishal, and one in Rajshahi.
