The United States has carried out a missile strike on the construction site of the Darkhovin Nuclear Power Plant in Iran's southwestern Khuzestan province, Iran's Atomic Energy Organization confirmed.
According to Al Jazeera, citing local media reports, multiple missiles struck the project site at around 3:45 a.m. local time on Wednesday.
Iran's Atomic Energy Organization strongly condemned the attack, describing it as a violation of international law.
Construction of the Darkhovin Nuclear Power Plant began in 2022 as part of Iran's efforts to expand its civilian nuclear energy program.
Iranian authorities did not immediately disclose the extent of the damage or report any casualties resulting from the strike.
The attack comes amid escalating tensions between Tehran and Washington, with both sides exchanging accusations and military actions in recent weeks.
