17 senior police officers sent into compulsory retirement

The government has sent 17 more Superintendents of Police (SP) to Deputy Inspectors General (DIG) level officers to forced retirement from their service due to their closed connection and alleged involvement with the controversial polls held during the ousted Awami League government.

The Ministry of Home Affairs announced the decision through a gazette notification issued on Thursday, July 23. Senior Secretary Monjur Morshed Chowdhury signed the notification by order of the President.

Among the officers sent into retirement are: Highway Police DIG Mohammad Abdullahil Baqui, CID Additional DIG Mohammad Sarwar Hossain, Tourist Police Additional DIG Bidhan Tripura, Police Staff College Additional DIG Dr. A.K.M. Iqbal Hossain, Bangladesh Police Academy (BPA), Sardah DIG Md. Walid Hossain, APBN Additional DIG Sahely Ferdous, CID Additional DIG Rebecca Sultana, BPA, Sardah Additional DIG Mohammad Tabarak Ullah, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Md. Habibur Rahman, Police Telecom Additional DIG Hasina Rahman, Police Headquarters Additional DIG Faysal Mahmud, Police Headquarters Additional DIG Kaniz Fatema, Tourist Police Additional DIG Sultana Najma Hossain, River Police Additional DIG Jasmine Begum, TDS Dhaka Superintendent of Police Abdur Rahim Shah Chowdhury, CID DIG Sana Shaminur Rahman, DMP Joint Police Commissioner (Additional DIG) Farida Yasmin.

The notification stated that the retired officers will receive all retirement benefits according to government rules.
