The government is committed to creating a more investment-friendly business environment to attract greater foreign direct investment (FDI), Prime Minister's Adviser and Chief Spokesperson Mahdi Amin said on Thursday.
Speaking at the FICCI FDI Conference 2026, titled “Accelerating Foreign Direct Investment for Jobs and Prosperity in Bangladesh,” at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center, Mahdi said the government's vision was to foster an environment that empowers people, creates employment, reduces the cost of doing business and facilitates trade.
“The Prime Minister has a clear vision for the country's development. We want to establish an investment-friendly ecosystem that generates jobs while making it easier and more cost-effective to conduct business,” he said.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman attended the conference as the chief guest and visited the Investors' Expo before the inaugural session, interacting with representatives of participating companies and organisations.
Mahdi noted that the current government assumed office five months ago following what he described as a free, fair and credible election. He thanked the Foreign Investors' Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) for organising the event.
He said the government had restructured ministries and public offices to improve coordination, reduce bureaucratic delays and ensure faster implementation of policies aligned with the Prime Minister's election manifesto.
“The objective is to streamline decision-making from policy formulation to grassroots implementation, enhance transparency and enable ministries to work in a coordinated manner,” he said.
Referring to the government's first national budget, Mahdi described it as people-friendly, business-friendly and investment-friendly, saying it reflected public aspirations and the needs of the business community.
The conference was attended by Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muqtadir, State Minister for Land Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, FICCI President and Berger Paints Bangladesh Managing Director Rupali Haque Chowdhury, BIDA Executive Chairman Ashik Chowdhury, senior government officials, diplomats, development partners and around 600 local and foreign investors and business representatives.
