Towhid Hridoy produced a sensational late cameo as Jaffna Kings defeated Colombo Caps by 19 runs in the Lanka Premier League at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
Batting first after losing the toss, Jaffna posted 202 for 5, thanks largely to Ibrahim Zadran’s 95 off 65 balls and Kamil Mishara’s 44 from 19 deliveries.
Hridoy then stole the spotlight with an unbeaten 31 off just eight balls at an extraordinary strike rate of 387.50. His explosive knock included four sixes and a boundary, with 30 runs coming from the final over bowled by Pakistan pacer Shahnawaz Dahani.
Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan did not get the chance to bat. Bowling for Jaffna, he returned figures of 0-27 from three overs.
In reply, Colombo Caps were restricted to 183 for 9, handing Jaffna a comfortable 19-run victory.
