Published : Sunday, 16 August, 2026 at 12:00 AM
All operations at Ferdous Steel Ship Breaking and Recycling in Sitakunda’s Bhatiari have been suspended indefinitely after a toxic gas leak killed nine people.

Bangladesh Ship Recycling Board (BSRB) Director General ASM Shafiul Alam Talukder told bdnews24.com on Saturday that the yard will remain closed until further notice.

Officials familiar with the matter said the BSRB took the decision on Friday night, shortly after the fatal gas leak at the shipbreaking yard.-bdnews24
