Man dies after electrocution in Kurigram, granddaughter injured

A 70-year-old man died after being electrocuted in Phulbari upazila of Kurigram. His three-year-old granddaughter was also injured in the incident.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Yunus Ali,70.

The accident occurred Thursday morning in West Para of Madhya Kashipur village under Kashipur Union of Phulbari Upazila.

According to locals, Yunus Ali was draining water from a canal behind his house using an irrigation pump to catch fish. At one point, an electric wire accidentally became entangled around his foot, causing him to suffer an electric shock and fall to the ground, critically injured.

His three-year-old granddaughter Sinha, who was nearby at the time, was also injured.

Family members quickly rescued them and took them to Phulbari upazila health complex.

However, Yunus Ali died on the way to the hospital. Kashipur Union Parishad Chairman Md. Moniruzzaman Manik confirmed the incident.
