More than 20,000 Pakistanis were deported from several Middle Eastern countries between March 1 and July 13, with Saudi Arabia and the UAE accounting for the highest numbers.

Saudi Arabia deported 15,500 Pakistanis during the period, followed by the UAE with 3,803. Oman deported 1,606, Bahrain 521, Qatar 429 and Kuwait 97, according to government data presented in Pakistan’s parliament.

The Ministry of Narcotics Control said the deportations were linked to illegal entry, overstaying, begging, drug-related offences, security concerns, false documents and other violations of local laws.

Of those deported, 4,628 were wanted in various cases, while 1,294 returned to Pakistan after serving prison terms. Another 968 were blacklisted, 1,155 had lost their passports, 689 had violated visa rules and 342 were denied entry.

The ministry did not provide details of around 6,000 other Pakistanis who were deported during the period.

Some Pakistanis were also detained and deported for recording and uploading videos of Iranian attacks on social media during the Iran-US conflict, citing security concerns.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry told lawmakers that the figures do not represent all Pakistanis who left the Gulf region during the period.

He said the data only covers those formally detained by authorities and issued emergency travel documents by Pakistani embassies or missions. Pakistanis who returned voluntarily or held valid passports were not included in the figures.
