A market monitoring drive was conducted by the Directorate of National Consumers' Right Protection (DNCRP) at Taraganj Modhyabazar in Nalitabari municipal town of Sherpur.
The drive was led by Kazi Rokibul Hasan, Assistant Director of the Sherpur DNCRP, on Sunday (23 August) afternoon.According to sources, five business establishments in the municipal town were fined a total of Tk 32,000 for violating various sections of the Consumers' Right Protection Act, 2009.
The localized fines were collected on the spot immediately.Md. Sultan Mahmud, Sanitary Inspector of Nalitabari Upazila Health Complex, along with other officials and staff from the Sherpur DNCRP, participated in the operation.Officials involved in the drive stated that such operations will continue to protect consumer interests, control product prices and quality, and penalize dishonest traders. They also emphasized that market monitoring will remain ongoing in the public interest.
