Five bodies recovered in separate incidents in Nalitabari in a single day

Five bodies, including those of three children and two females, were recovered in separate incidents in Nalitabari upazila of Sherpur on Monday.

The deceased children were identified as Rohan, 7, son of Hazrat Ali, and Ismail, 6, son of Obaidul Aslam, both from Madhyanakshi village under Kolshpar Union, and Hossain Ahmed Alif, 3, son of Rajib Mia, from Sidhuli village under Nayabil Union.

According to locals, Rohan and Ismail went missing after leaving home around noon on Sunday. Their families searched for them in different places. On Monday morning, locals spotted their bodies in a pond in Madhyanakshi village and recovered them. Locals said the two children occasionally went into water bodies to catch fish but were not good swimmers.

In another incident, three-year-old Alif drowned in a pond near his home in Sidhuli village around 3pm on Monday. Relatives rescued him and attempted to provide treatment locally, but he eventually died.

Meanwhile, the body of Nurjahan Begum, 65, was recovered from the area adjacent to her home in Nayabil around 6:30am. Her daughter, Taslima Akter, found her unresponsive near a guava tree. Nurjahan was the wife of Abdus Sattar of the village.

In Tantor village under Ramchandrakura Union, a 16-year-old girl named Shakila was found unresponsive at home around 8:30am. She was taken to Nalitabari Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared her dead.

Nalitabari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman confirmed the incidents.
