Pace gives Bangladesh belief abroad, but batting still holds the key: Talha  

Bangladesh's pace attack has given the team a new sense of belief about winning Test matches overseas, but pace-bowling coach Talha Jubair believes the next step will depend heavily on fixing the batting problems that surfaced in Australia.

Bangladesh returned home after drawing their two-Test series against Australia 1-1, with their historic nine-wicket victory in Darwin providing a major boost to their confidence in overseas conditions.

The fast bowlers were central to that success. Bangladesh's attack consistently challenged Australia's batters and produced the pressure needed to secure their first Test victory on Australian soil.

For Talha, that development has changed the team's mindset.

"When your pace bowlers are performing well, that's when you can realistically hope to win Test matches away from home. You need to take 20 wickets," Talha said.

The coach, however, was equally clear about the other side of the equation.

Bangladesh's batting collapsed twice in the second Test in Mackay, when they were bowled out for fewer than 100 runs in both innings. Australia responded with an innings-and-51-run victory to level the series.

"There's definitely a concern that if the batters had done a little better, we might have had an even better result in the second Test," Talha said.
That contrast has become one of the clearest lessons from the Australia tour.

Bangladesh now appear to possess a pace unit capable of taking wickets in challenging overseas conditions. The question is whether the batting can provide enough support to turn those bowling performances into victories.

Talha also pointed to the importance of preparation and tactical planning. Before the Darwin Test, Bangladesh's bowling group worked specifically on Australia's batting weaknesses and executed those plans effectively.

The result was a historic victory that, in Talha's view, demonstrated Bangladesh can compete with the world's best.

"Beating Australia is a massive deal for us. It sends a message to world cricket that we can beat anyone," he said.
