RAB detains 'Para Poni' over fatal mugging near Parliament

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested the prime suspect, Md Poni alias Para Poni, along with an accomplice, in connection with the murder of school teacher Ronjina Parveen near the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.

RAB-2 also seized the motorcycle used during the mugging incident.

RAB-2 Commanding Officer Additional DIG Noymul Hasan confirmed the arrests on Sunday (August 30). He added that detailed information would be disclosed during a press conference at 4:00 PM.

Earlier on Saturday (August 29) around 6:30 AM, Ronjina Parveen fell victim to muggers in front of the South Plaza of the National Parliament.

She was the headteacher of Bagbari Girls' Government Primary School in Gabtali upazila of Bogura.

Tejgaon Division Deputy Commissioner of Police (DC) Ibne Mizan had earlier confirmed the incident.
