EU to continue work with US, G7 to keep up pressure on Iran

The EU says it will continue to work closely with the US and other G7 countries to “maintain pressure on Iran”.

In a statement on its website, the EU also restated its stance that Iran has to “curb” its nuclear programme, its ballistic missile programme and “refrain from destabilising activities”, including its military support for Russia’s war on Ukraine and “repression against its own people”.

It will also remain ready to take “further measures where necessary to protect its security and interests, including freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz”.

Iranians are struggling six months into the war.
