Rangpur Police said they are on the verge of solving the full family murder case of retired schoolteacher and his family members following an interrogation of the accused at the jail gate.
The case investigation officer, Metropolitan Detective Branch Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zinnat Ali, interrogated two accused - Siddhartha Das and Mugdha Das - from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Tuesday (September 1).
Speaking later in the afternoon, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Additional Commissioner (Crime and Operations) Tofael Ahmed said the crime was a gruesome murder and that police are working on the matter, expressing confidence that they are close to uncovering the mystery.
He noted that as the case remains under investigation, details cannot be fully disclosed yet. However, he confirmed that interrogations are ongoing at the jail gate and officers are maintaining professional standards to resolve the case.
Earlier on Monday (August 31), the investigation officer submitted a three-day remand prayer in court for the two suspects. Considering the overall situation and the suspects' confessional statements, the court granted permission to interrogate them at the jail gate for three hours daily over two days.
Following the court order, police conducted the first session of questioning today.
