Flood risk is possible in the northern, northeastern and southeastern parts of Bangladesh this September due to the occurrence of heavy to very heavy rain, based on the long-range weather forecast by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.

The country will experience below-normal rainfall for the whole month. There will be one to three low-pressure areas over the Bay of Bengal, with one becoming a depression. Thunderstorms may happen on three to five days.

The average daily temperature may stay above normal, while two to three spells of mild to moderate heatwave are expected to hit.

Most major rivers may stay at normal levels of flow, though heavy rains may lead to temporary flooding in some parts.
