SB SI beaten to death in Aminbazar

A member of Special Branch (SB) of police, Altaf Hossain, 58, was reportedly beaten to death in Baradeshi area of Aminbazar in Savar, Dhaka. He was serving as a sub-inspector (SI) at SB’s Malibagh zone in Dhaka.

The incident took place around 8pm on Saturday. His younger son, Ariful Islam, 26, was also seriously injured in the attack.
Police, however, arrested a person name Zahirul for alleged involvement with this incident. Police unable to give details about the arrestees when the report writing.   

Altaf was son of late Jurain Ali Sheikh of Sadhpara village in Enayetpur police station (PS) area of Sirajganj. He lived with his family in a rented house in the Medina City area of Baradeshi, Aminbazar, where his two sons run a small garment factory.

Family members told the media that an elderly man was being beaten in front of an auto-rickshaw garage adjacent to the factory following an altercation over the side of an auto-rickshaw and a private car. When Altaf tried to intervene, he was also assaulted. 

Even after identifying himself as a police officer, he was slapped and suffered an injury to his ear. He then returned to the factory.

After learning about the incident, Altaf went outside with Ariful. By then, 20 to 25 people, including those travelling in the private car, had gathered there. The father and son tried to enter the factory and shut the door, but the attackers allegedly forced their way inside.
