Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman set to take oath on Tuesday (September 8) as the President of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) to lead the global body for the next one year.
He will formally assume office on Tuesday night at the UN Headquarters in New York. The closing ceremony of the 80th session will take place at 9:00 PM Bangladesh time. The newly elected president will take his oath at the same event.
Before taking the oath, Dr Khalilur Rahman will address a media briefing at 8:45 PM Bangladesh time. He will outline his vision for managing UNGA activities during his upcoming term.
Following the ceremony, he will preside over the first plenary meeting of the 81st UNGA session at 1:00 AM Bangladesh time. Foreign Ministry Public Relations Officer Mahmudul Hasan confirmed the details.
