The 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly begins today, with preparations completed at the UN headquarters in New York, United States, ahead of the session.
The 80th session of the General Assembly will conclude on Tuesday morning local time in New York. The 81st session will then begin at 3:00 PM, Reuters reported.
Representatives from all 193 member states, including heads of state and government, will attend the session. Key issues on this year’s agenda include rebuilding global trust, strengthening international cooperation, accelerating progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals, reforming the UN Security Council, conflicts in various countries, the climate crisis and other major global challenges.
A high-level general debate involving world leaders will take place from September 22 to 28. Morocco will have the opportunity to occupy the first seat in the General Assembly hall during this session.
Security has also been tightened across New York City ahead of the General Assembly session.
