8 more remanded over police officer killing in Savar

 
A Dhaka court on Tuesday placed eight more suspects on remand in a case filed over the beating death of Special Branch (SB) Sub-Inspector Altaf Hossain(58) in Savar’s Aminbazar.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Tajul Islam Soha granted five-day remand for six of the accused and three-day remand for the other two after a hearing.

The accused are Alauddin, Apon, Jihad, Imran Hossain, Nur Mohammad Rudra, Golam Rabbi, Billal and Delwar. Investigating officer SI Zakir Al Ahsan had sought 10 days remand for each.

According to the case statement, Altaf was attacked on September 5 after intervening in an argument over parking an autorickshaw in Savar’s Bardebi Westpara. He took shelter at his son’s business establishment, where the accused allegedly attacked him with rods, pipes, hammers and sticks.
