India face an injury concern ahead of their T20I series against Afghanistan as wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan suffered a back injury during practice in Delhi on Friday(September 11).
Kishan felt discomfort while playing a bouncer from pacer Navdeep Saini towards the end of a 45-minute net session at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. He immediately stopped batting and was attended to by the team physiotherapist.
Although Kishan left the ground without assistance, he did not return to the nets. He was later seen sitting with teammates and chatting with Saini, suggesting that the injury may not be serious.
The 27-year-old has been in impressive form in T20Is this year, scoring 812 runs in 23 matches. He also recently led East Zone to the Duleep Trophy title.
India will closely monitor his fitness ahead of Sunday's series opener. If Kishan is unavailable, Sanju Samson and Vaibhav Suryavanshi could be considered as alternatives in the top order and behind the stumps.
