Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed left Dhaka for Tanzania on Sunday (October 4) to attend the 153rd conference of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
He departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 2:30PM, according to the Parliament Secretariat.
The IPU conference will be held from October 5 to 9 under the theme “Advancing good governance and empowering communities through inclusion, trust and opportunity for all.”
The speaker will attend various sessions of the conference. The IPU Governing Council is scheduled to elect a new president on the final day of the assembly on October 9.
A delegation including Whip Mia Nuruddin Ahmed Apu and several MPs is accompanying the speaker.
The delegation is scheduled to return to Bangladesh on October 11.
