Followers of Maulana Saad Kandhalvi have urged the government to immediately declare the dates for the upcoming World Ijtema at the Tongi Ijtema grounds.
The Markaz followers announced a six-point demand at a press conference held at the National Press Club in Dhaka on Sunday (September 13). They also requested an official government circular ensuring that Dawah and Tabligh activities can be conducted across all mosques nationwide without obstruction.
During the press conference, speakers strongly criticized the restrictions preventing Maulana Saad from visiting Bangladesh. They asserted that Maulana Saad has never made any statements contrary to the Quran and Sunnah, adding that they are prepared to challenge any critics on this matter.
The speakers also condemned statements claiming the government owns the Tongi Ijtema grounds and asserting that followers of Maulana Zubayer would not be allowed to use the venue.
Furthermore, the Markaz faction demanded strict legal action against individuals spreading falsehoods and propaganda against their scholars and activities.
