A Dhaka court will deliver its decision on October 5 on a review petition challenging the discharge of nine people, including BNP executive committee member Sheikh Rabiul Alam Rabi, from the murder case of Deepto Television official Tanzil Jahan Tamim.

The hearing on the petition filed by Tamim’s father, Sultan Ahmed, concluded on Sunday before Dhaka’s 13th Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Zahidul Islam.

Tamim was beaten to death at his residence in the capital’s Hatirjheel area on October 10, 2024. His father filed the murder case the following day, naming 16 people and several unidentified suspects.

The case allegedly stemmed from a dispute over flats in a building developed by Pleasant Properties on Tamim’s father’s land.

After investigation, PBI SI Zakaria Alam submitted a charge sheet against 13 people on December 10, 2025, while recommending the discharge of nine others for lack of specific evidence.
