Police have arrested 155 people, including 27 leaders and activists of the banned Awami League and its affiliated organisations, in a special drive in Jashore.
They were sent to court on Monday (September 14) afternoon and later ordered to jail after hearings.
Police arrested them in separate drives across the district on Sunday (September 13) night. Drugs, crude-like explosives and other evidence were recovered during the drives.
The 27 AL members include former district and upazila-level Chhatra League leaders and union and ward-level Awami League activists. Police said they are accused in cases filed under anti-sabotage and anti-terrorism laws.
The remaining 128 people are accused in cases involving drugs, theft, explosives, disruption of law and order and various warrants.
Additional Superintendent of Police Mirajul Islam said the special drives would continue to maintain law and order and control crime, drugs and terrorism.
