
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at the University of Dhaka held an orientation programme for students of its professional master’s courses at the department auditorium on Thursday.
Professor Dr Abdus Salam, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) of the University of Dhaka, attended the event as the chief guest.
Professor Dr Saifuddin Md Tariq, acting dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, and Professor Dr M Lutfor Rahman, founding chairman of the CSE department, also spoke at the event.
Professor Dr Md Abdur Razzaq, chairman of the department, chaired the programme. Professor Dr Md Rezaul Karim, coordinator of the organising committee, delivered the welcome speech.
Professor Salam urged students to develop skills in areas such as cyber security and data engineering.
He also stressed the need to expand the use of artificial intelligence for national development.
He called for stronger industry-academia cooperation so that students can gain practical experience.
The programme was held for the seventh batch of the Professional Master’s in Information and Cyber Security and the second batch of the Professional Master’s in Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering.
