Install Streetlights on Rural Roads

Dear Sir,

Even in this day and age, villages still lag significantly behind cities in basic infrastructure. While city streets and alleys are illuminated by installed lampposts, many rural roads remain shrouded in darkness at night. Villagers often move about carrying handheld flashlights or relying on moonlight and their familiarity with the paths. Consequently, they face difficulties navigating in the dark, particularly during the monsoon and winter seasons. Children and elderly people are especially vulnerable to injuries from falling into mud, water or potholes that remain unseen at night. Moreover, dense winter fog can make even familiar roads difficult to recognise, further increasing the risks for pedestrians.

Installing streetlights at strategic points along rural roads would improve visibility and ensure safer movement for residents. It would also significantly reduce the risk of accidents at night. 

Therefore, I urge the authorities to address this issue by installing an adequate number of streetlights on rural roads.
