Long 7-day holiday opportunity for govt officials

Hindu government employees have an opportunity to enjoy a continuous seven-day holiday during the upcoming Durga Puja in October by combining official, optional, and weekend leaves.
The central government holidays for Durga Puja begin on Tuesday, October 20 with an executive order holiday for Maha Navami, followed by a general holiday on Wednesday, October 21 for Vijaya Dashami.
In addition to the two-day general holiday, Hindu employees can take two optional leaves on Sunday, October 18, for Maha Saptami and Monday, October 19, for Maha Ashtami.
By taking four consecutive days off from October 18 to 21 and securing one day of managing leave on Thursday, October 22, Hindu civil servants can bridge their leave into the weekend, creating a full seven-day break.
This extended holiday setup is exclusive to Hindu government staff, while other public servants will receive the standard two-day Puja holiday.
Banks and financial institutions will remain closed during the official public holidays, though select branches or essential services may operate under Bangladesh Bank guidelines, alongside uninterrupted digital and ATM services.
Emergency service workers, including hospital staff, police, fire service, utility providers, and media professionals, will remain on duty to keep public services running. Private organizations and educational institutions will determine their holiday schedules according to their respective rules.
